Cookies Policy
Introduction:
At topsim.co.uk, we use cookies to enhance your browsing experience and to provide services in line with your preferences. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, why we use them, and how you can manage them.
Last updated: 6 October 2026.
What are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device by websites that you visit. They are used to collect information about your browsing habits and to personalize your experience on our website.
This policy also covers similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage and tracking pixels, which we treat the same way as cookies.
Types of Cookies We Use:
Essential Cookies: These are necessary for the website to work, so they do not need your consent and cannot be switched off. They keep the plans in your basket, remember your details for your next order, and record your cookie choice. We use:
- topsim_consent – remembers whether you accepted or rejected marketing cookies. Kept for 12 months.
- topsim_store_device and topsim_store_known – recognise this browser after you place an order, so your details can be filled in next time and you can see your orders. Kept for up to 400 days.
- Local storage (topsim.cart.v1, topsim_store_name, topsim.offers.countdown.v1) – your basket, your first name for the greeting in the header, and the timer on our offers page. These stay on your device until you clear them.
Marketing Cookies (Meta Pixel): Only if you accept them, we use Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, which runs Facebook and Instagram. It tells Meta which pages you view, the plans you add to your basket, when you start checkout, and when you send us an order request or a message. We use this to measure how well our adverts on Facebook and Instagram work and to show adverts to people who are more likely to be interested.
Advanced Matching: If you accept marketing cookies, Meta Pixel also reads the contact details you type into our forms, such as at checkout or on our contact form. This can include your email address, phone number, name and postal address. These details are scrambled (hashed) in your browser before they are sent, and Meta uses them to match your visit to a Facebook or Instagram account, so we can measure our adverts more accurately. Meta does not use them to send you messages. If you reject marketing cookies, none of this happens.
- _fbp and _fbc – set by Meta Pixel on our site to recognise your browser and link visits to an advert you clicked. Kept for 90 days.
- Local storage (topsim_first_touch, topsim_last_touch, topsim_journey) – if you arrived from one of our adverts, which campaign, ad set and ad it was, when you first came, and the pages you visited on our site (up to the last 50). It is sent with your order request so we know which advert it came from, and kept with that order. Deleted from your device if you reject or withdraw marketing cookies.
- Meta may also use its own cookies, such as fr, on its own domains. Meta decides how those are used, under its own cookie and privacy policies. Meta may process this data outside the UK.
We do not use performance or analytics cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
How to Manage Cookies:
When you first visit our website, a banner lets you accept or reject marketing cookies, or choose your preferences. Marketing cookies stay off until you accept them. You can change your mind at any time by selecting “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page; if you withdraw your consent, Meta Pixel stops and we delete its cookies from our site.
You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies, or to set your browser to notify you when cookies are sent. For more information, please refer to your browser’s help documentation. Blocking essential cookies may stop the basket and checkout from working.
Consent:
We only use marketing cookies with your consent, which you give by selecting “Accept all” or by switching marketing cookies on in your preferences. Rejecting them does not affect your use of our website. We ask again after 12 months, or sooner if this policy changes in a way that affects your choice.
Changes to This Policy:
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with the date of the last update.
